Its wildlife is easily accessible too, especially in private reserves such as Sabi Sand in the west and the Timbavati.

Prefer scenery to safari? Head for the Mpumalanga and the Panorama Route, with astonishing landscapes and the magnificent Blyde River Canyon – the third largest in the world; an ideal base is White River; a small town perfectly placed for the Panorama Route – and a journey you’ll always remember.
