Montagne d’Ambre National Park

Montagne d’Ambre is a special Madagascan park because it can be enjoyed by visitors with limited mobility.

You can drive to the main picnic area, the forestry station and the Station de Rousettes in the dry season and see the rainforest and the dwelling creatures from your vehicle.

With over 30km of trails, the park is open to a variety of different visitors, as some trails are easy and well maintained, while others are overgrown and can be challenging.

Montagne d’Ambre is not part of the eastern rainforest band and therefore its fauna and flora are different. The park is also well known for its scenic attractions, such as waterfalls.

In the course of a walk to Les Rousettes or to the viewpoint over the Grande Cascade waterfall, it is usual for visitors to see groups of the sanfords and crowned lemur.

This park is called home to an impressive variety of herpetofauna, including skink, frog, snake and chameleon. Three of the leaf tailed geckos can be found here, as well as two day geckos.
