Much of Madagascar’s flora and fauna is found nowhere else on earth. Madagascar’s stunning scenery, varied forests and fascinating culture provide the ideal backdrop against which to view mammals, reptiles and a variety of bird species, 120 of which are endemic. Spot a number of lemur species, including the famous ring-tailed, indri-indri and dancing sifaka.

Day 1 To Antananarivo: Fly overnight from London to Antananarivo, via Paris, with Air France. Transfer to Le Royal Palissandre, or similar, for 2 nights. (N)
Day 2 Antananarivo: Full day tour of Antananarivo, including ‘lower’ and ‘upper’ town and the zoological and botanical garden of Tsimbazaza. (B, L, D)
Day 3 To Fort Dauphin: Morning flight to Fort Dauphin. Transfer to Le Croix Du Sud or Le Dauphin for 1 night. Afternoon visit to the botanical and zoological gardens. (B, L, D)
Day 4 To Berenty: Morning drive to Berenty Private Nature Reserve, stopping en route to view sisal plantations, baobab trees and the spiny forest. Stay 2 nights at Berenty Lodge. Afternoon dusk walk. (B, L, D)
Day 5 Berenty: Morning and afternoon walks in the reserve. Visit the gallery forest where the ring-tailed lemur, red fronted brown lemur and the dancing Sifaka can be seen. Visit the Arembelo Museum and experience a night walk within the spiny forest where mouse lemurs, white-footed sportive lemurs, chameleons and over 100 species of birds can be seen. (B, L, D)
Day 6 To Antananarivo: Morning walk in the reserve. Return to Fort Dauphin for lunch. Fly to Antananarivo and stay 1 night at Le Royal Palissandre. (B, L, D)
Day 7 To Andasibe: Morning drive to Andasibe via Peyreras, a private farm, home to reptiles, insects and chameleons. On arrival in Andasibe transfer to Vakona Lodge and stay 2 nights. (B, L, D)
Day 8 Andasibe: Morning visit to the Analamazaotra Reserve, home to the largest living lemur, the indri indri. Other lemur species to be found here include the common brown lemur and the eastern woolly lemur, as well as different endemic species of birds such as couas, vangas, green bulls and ground rollers. Afternoon visit to Mantadia National Park. (B, L, D)
Day 9 To Antananarivo: Morning drive to Antananarivo. Lunch at Villa Vanille. Afternoon visit to La Digue craft market. Day room available at Le Royal Palissandre. Transfer to the airport. (B, L, D)
Day 10 To London: Fly to London, via Paris, with Air France. (B, L, D)
Discovery Tour: Madagascar is one of the world’s poorest nations and tourism here is in its infancy. Distances can be long and the roads rough. Hotels, while sometimes not reaching western standards, are clean and comfortable.

TOUR + NOSY BE Island

A small picturesque island located off Madagascar’s north west coast, Nosy Be has beautiful sandy beaches. This extension offers the chance to relax and explore other islands, including the lemur reserves.

Day 9 To Antananarivo: As per Day 9 of Madagascar: Wildlife Adventure. Stay overnight at Le Royal Palissandre. (B, L, D)
Day 10 To Nosy Be: Fly to Nosy Be and stay 4 nights at the Vanilla Hotel (Ocean Facing Room). Alternatively, stay at Tsara Komba on the remote island of Nosy Komba* (see below for prices). (B, D)
Days 11-13 Nosy Be: At leisure. (B, D)
Day 14 To Antananarivo: Morning at leisure. Afternoon flight to Antananarivo. Day room available at Le Royal Palissandre. (B, L)
