Madagascar is a naturalist’s paradise and this journey concentrates on its unique flora and fauna. See a variety of lemurs in two of the country’s most beautiful nature reserves and end your journey with a stay on Sainte Marie Island where, from mid-July to September, humpback whales come to give birth or to look for mates.

Day 1 To Antananarivo: Fly from London to Antananarivo, via Paris, with Air France. Transfer to Le Royal Palissandre for 1 night. (N)
Day 2 Antananarivo: Morning tour of Antananarivo. Afternoon flight to Fort Dauphin. Transfer to Le Dauphin for 1 night. (L, D)
Day 3 To Berenty: Transfer to Berenty, home to ring-tailed, brown and sifaka lemur. Stay 2 nights at Berenty Lodge. Evening dusk walk. (B, L, D)
Day 4 Berenty Private Nature Reserve: Morning and afternoon guided walk. (B, L, D)
Day 5 To Antananarivo: Early morning walk. After lunch, transfer to Fort Dauphin and fly to Antananarivo. Stay 1 night at Le Royal Palissandre. (B, L, D)
Day 6 To Andasibe: Drive to Andasibe via Lake Mantasoa. Stay at Vakona Lodge for 2 nights. (B, L, D)
Day 7 Andasibe-Mantadia National Park: Morning visit to Andasibe National Park, home to nine species of lemur including Indri Indri, the largest of the family. Afternoon visit to Vakona Private Reserve. (B, L, D)
Day 8 To Akanin’ny Nofy: Drive to Manambato and transfer by boat along the Pangalanes Canal to Akanin’ny Nofy. Stay 2 nights at Le Palmarium. (B, L, D)
Day 9 Akanin’ny Nofy: At leisure or optional excursion to Palmarium Reserve. (B, L, D)
Day 10 Tamatave: Transfer by boat to Tamatave. Stay overnight at Le Neptune Hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 11 To Sainte Marie: Morning visit to the Zoological Garden at Ivoloina. Fly to Sainte Marie and stay 4 nights at Princess Bora Lodge. Sainte Marie is a tropical island with deserted beaches and a wonderful mix of Malagasy and African cultures. (B, D)

Days 12-14 Sainte Marie: At leisure. Princess Bora Lodge offers seasonal boat cruises to see the humpback whales. (B, D)
Day 15 To London: Afternoon flight to Antananarivo. Day room booked at Le Royal Palissandre. Fly overnight to London, via Antananarivo and Paris. (B)
Day 16 London: Fly to London, via Paris. (N)

This itinerary combines a visit to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, a mountain forest with lemurs, birds and reptiles, with northern Madagascar’s Amber Mountain National Park, which offers spectacular volcanic scenery, lakes and waterfalls. The journey ends on Nosy Iranja, a remote and unspoilt island.

Day 1 To Antananarivo: Fly from London to Antananarivo, via Paris, with Air France. Transfer to Le Royal Palissandre for 2 nights. (N)
Day 2 Antananarivo: Morning tour of Antananarivo. Afternoon visit to the sacred hill of Ambohimanga and a craft market. (B, L)
Day 3 To Andasibe-Mantadia National Park: Drive to Andasibe National Park, via Mantasoa. Stay at Vakona Lodge for 2 nights. (L, D)
Day 4 Andasibe-Mantadia: Full day visit. (B, L, D)
Day 5 To Antananarivo: Morning visit to Mantadia National Park. Afternoon drive to Antananarivo and stay overnight at Le Royal Palissandre. (B, L, D)
Day 6 To Joffre Ville: Fly from Antananarivo to Diego Suarez. Transfer to the Nature Lodge in Joffre Ville for 3 nights. Afternoon visit to Le Fontenay Nature Park. (B, L, D)
Days 7-8 Amber Mountain National Park: Morning and afternoon guided walks of the park, returning to the lodge for lunch. (B, L, D)
Day 9 Ankify: Drive to Ankify via the Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve, an area of forests, lakes and mangrove swamps. Visit the Tsingy (limestone needles) and stay overnight at the Baobab Ankify. (B, L, D)
Day 10 To Nosy Komba: Transfer to Nosy Be and continue to Nosy Komba by speedboat. Stay 5 nights at Tsara Komba. (B, D)
Days 11-14 Nosy Komba: At leisure or optional activities. (B, D)
Day 15 To London: Return by speedboat to Nosy Be and fly to Antananarivo. Visit Ambohimanga and a handicraft market. Evening flight to London, via Paris. (B)
Day 16 London: Early morning arrival. (N)
