Palazzo
Sasso is a stunning new five star deluxe hotel on Italy's famous
Amalfi coast. The hotel is a 12th century Italian villa tucked away in
the hill top village of Ravello perched high on the cliffs, 350 meters
(1,000 ft.) above the sparkling Mediterranean and overlooking some of
the coast's most picturesque fishing villages. Just as Palazzo Sasso
opened its doors again as a new hotel in July 1997, so does its style,
which embraces a firm commitment to friendly and extraordinary service
by our staff. Our Rossellinis restaurant, will let you sample the best
in Italian haute cuisine. Palazzo Sasso is privately owned and managed
by the newly launched Limited Edition by Virgin. Imagine yourself
sitting on one of Palazzo Sasso's sun-kissed terraces, sipping some of
Italy's finest wines without a care in the world. Originally the home
of the wealthy Sasso family, Palazzo Sasso has strong historic
connections with artists, music lovers and celebrities alike. A famous
member of the Sasso family was Brother Gerardo founder of the
Sovereign Military Order of Malta. As a fashionable society hotel of
the 1950's, it entertained such luminaries as Ingrid Bergman and
Roberto Rossellini. Ravello is a quiet little town. Its charm and
attractiveness are due to the contrast between its position - the town
having been boldly laid out on a rugged stretch of highland - and its
enticing surroundings gleaming with a myriad of bright colours, the
contrast between its rough narrow streets and lanes the wealth of its
works of art. Although the earliest settlement is believed to date
back to the 6th century AD, when a group of Romans sought refuge here
in their flight from the vandalic destructions of the Huns, Goths,
Visigoths, the city proper was found no earlier than around the 9th
century. Accommodation: There are 38 rooms and 5 suites at Palazzo Sasso (Jacuzzi - satellite TV - all AC - minibar). Most of the rooms offers a great view of the vista, the Superior Junior Suites and the Deluxe Suite have balcony. Each of the rooms are individually decorated, as are the public spaces with oak, marble and clear, crisp colour schemes - creating an atmosphere of refined elegance with a modern edge.
