The Caribbean

Young Islands - Grenadines

Young Island was established over 30 years ago as one of the first exclusive Caribbean resorts. Since its beginning, this 35 acre island near the coast of St. Vincent has continuously been a hotel resort of international standing and a popular vacation destination. Legend says it was once the home of a Carib Indian chief who traded his island for a black stallion. Today, pottery shards are occasionally turned up by the more adventurous, supporting the local legend.  Where once a Carib chief resided, you can now live like a king, forgetting time, not counting the perfect days that follow one another. In 1980, it was acquired by its current Vincentian owners. The definitive castaway island, with hilly interior and a pretty palm-fringed beach. Charming rustic cottages nestle in tropical foliage, and those close to the beach have private plunge pools. Enchantment follows discovery on the 35 acres that is Young Island.  It is virtually a tropical garden. The trees are in fruit and flowers are everywhere. White ginger, hibiscus, crotons, and ferns, to name a few, are sheltered under tall palms, giant almonds, mango, coffee, nutmeg, flamboyant and breadfruit trees.  On the beach, where white sand eases gently into the Caribbean, there are chaise lounges and mattresses for sunbathers.

Accommodation: The hotel has a total of 30 cottages. Accommodation will have an ocean view king bed (twins if requested), private terrace, garden shower and a ceiling fan.  Your breakfasts, lunches (or picnics) and dinners will have six choices of breads (coconut, banana, cinnamon, wheat, white, raisin) baked in our kitchen, plus a choice of entrees served under our thatched roofs on the beach

Located: Guests will fly into Barbados and fly onto St Vincent which is then a 5 minute boat ride from Young Island
