Standing on its
own 300-acre island a brief ferry ride away from the Antiguan
mainland, Jumby Bay has a glorious beach and translucent waters home
to brightly coloured starfish and endangered hawksbill turtles. This
island has a colourful history and in 1627 it was `granted' to the
Earl of Carlisle by King Charles I and it was perhaps this illustrious
early association that inspired its later transformation into one of
the Caribbean's most sought-after properties.
